You want to make the best of the time you DO have to exercise and get the fastest results in the least about of time, correct?

The solution? Find out WHEN and HOW you can score the biggest calorie burn from your workout efforts.

So WHEN is the best time to exercise for maximum calorie burn and fat loss?

New research, recently covered by Gretchen Reynolds in The New York Times, suggests that working out early in the morning helps speed weight loss and boost energy levels by priming the body for an all-day fat burn.

One of the reasons why working out first thing in the morning helps us lose weight — or at least protects us from gaining it — is that it pushes the body to tap into its fat reserves for fuel, as opposed to simply “burning off” our most recent snack or meal.

The study also revealed that people who exercised in the morning committed to do so long after the study had completed, verse the participants that exercised in the evenings.  In other words people who exercise in the morning are more likely to make it a routine and follow it for a longer time. Too often we get tired and lose our desire to exercise later in the day, or other distractions can intrude. I’m sure you can relate to that — because once the day gets going, it’s hard to get off the treadmill called life, it’s it?

There’s no getting around it, exercise is important for health and weight loss and you should allocate time every day to complete some form of exercise.

I personally LOVE to exercise in the morning because it helps to “jump start” my metabolism and keeps it elevated throughout the rest of my day; helping me burn calories 24/7!!! PLUS it super-charges my energy for the day, I feel dramatically different on the days when I have and haven’t exercised in the morning.

Here are 4 MORE reasons you NEED to to get your booty out of bed… 

#3 is where I find the greatest motivation to stick with an early morning workout routine.

1) Morning exercise “regulates” your appetite for the day – meaning you’ll make better food choices. Many of my clients have told me that it puts them in a “healthy mindset.”

2) If you exercise at the same time every morning, and ideally wake-up at the same time on a regular basis, your body’s endocrine system and circadian rhythms adjust to that that time. Physiologically, some wonderful things begin to happen; A couple of hours before you awaken, your body begins to prepare for waking and exercise because it “knows” it’s about to happen. Why? Because it “knows” you do the same thing just about every day. You benefit from that in two way

a) It’s MUCH easier to wake-up. When you wake-up at different times every day, it confuses your body and thus it’s never really “prepared” to awaken.

b) Your metabolism and all the hormones involved in activity and exercise begin to elevate while you’re sleeping. Thus, you feel more alert, energized, and ready to exercise when you do wake-up.

3) Plus for many people, that appointed time every morning becomes something they look forward to. It’s time they’ve set aside to do something good for themselves – to take care of their body, mind, and soul. Many find that it’s a great time to think clearly, pray, plan their day, or just relax mentally.

4) Research has demonstrated that exercise increases mental acuity. On average it lasts four to ten hours after exercise! No sense in wasting that brain power while you’re sleeping. 🙂

If finding time to exercise is difficult for you then I HIGHLY recommend you to give AM workouts a try. You CAN get up 15-20min earlier to exercise (if it’s a priority in your life) and if necessary, go to sleep a little earlier to get your full 7 hours of beauty sleep. Research has demonstrated that people who exercise on a regular basis enjoy a higher quality of sleep and thus require less sleep.

I have studied and followed successful people for years, famous athletes, successful business owners and even presidents and they ALL have one thing in common, they cherish their mornings and often dedicate a lot of their success and focus to their morning routine which includes AM exercise.
